Isle of Arrows is a very relaxing tower defense game because unlike many (most?) TD games, there is no time pressure. You can take as long as you want to build (using whatever cards you happen to draw). Once you are done building, you send in the next wave and watch it attack. During the attack, all you do is watch. If you survive the attack (and usually you do), then you get to build again. If you survive all 40 waves, then you have completed the level.
The build choices are interesting, given the various interactions between the cards (aka tiles), and the various random elements in the game. Each level starts with one crystal that you must defend. After about 20(?) waves, a second crystal appears. A little bit later, a third crystal appears. So eventually, you have to harmoniously defend three separate crystals, each with its own path (that you build). Part of the challenge is finding a way to place towers (and paths) so that at least some of the towers defend two (or all three) of the paths.
After playing for 8 hours, I’d expect that an experienced player will win somewhere between 25% to 75% of games. After I play more, I’ll probably have a better sense of exactly how often a level can be won. I find Isle of Arrows to be deep and interesting, without being mentally overwhelming. Perhaps the most chill and relaxing tower defense game I have ever played. (For purposes of comparison, my favorite tower defense games are Creeper World 2, Infested Planet, and Defense Grid.)
